Thank you to Paul Hamlyn Foundation
London Bubble would like to express our thanks to Paul Hamlyn Foundation for emergency support of the Speech Bubbles programme at this very difficult time. Speech Bubbles is a small group drama intervention for young children that supports their communication development. This face to face creative work which takes place in schools was shut down at very short notice back in March at the beginning of Lockdown. Thanks to support from the Foundation we were able to stay connected with many of the schools and children that were part of Speech Bubbles and have been able to adapt some of our project training to working online The Foundations support has enabled us to:
Publish three packs of drama activities. Two for children and families to play at home (distributed to 920 families) and one for school staff working with key worker children (distributed to 65 schools.) These resource packs are also available to download for free online .
Delivering online training for school staff to run small group drama activities with key worker children
Supporting our freelance drama practitioners with an extended professional development programme
Now that we are thinking about what schools and schooling might look like from September onwards the support from the Foundation is providing us with the capacity to engage in debate about the ‘Recovery Curriculum’ and to plan to return to schools with creative activity that will help us all to #BuildBackBetter. Thank you!
